To improve the quality of life in workplaces and communities we serve by being an internationally recognized leader in providing effective programs, products and services for the prevention of injury and illness. "A World where risks are controlled because everyone believes suffering and loss are morally, socially and economically unacceptable."

Working in Partnership and building alliances to create synergies It’s about leadership; it’s about citizenship In our workplaces – providing solutions in an integrated manner In the unacceptable numbers of people injured, killed and made ill

“IAPA is a committed, innovative, customer-focused organization that is recognized by our members and clients as a solution-focused, responsive, market leader.”

We achieve our mission by….  Being the preferred solutions provider of core, standardized business services and products as well as customized services  Making a focused shift from being a product-driven organization which has been a traditional business model to a more market driven organization  Becoming more focused on our customers needs and objectives – becoming more consultative and focused on their business

We achieve our mission by….  Being an active participant in the National Quality Institutes’ Progressive Excellence Program – being committed to an ongoing pursuit of sustained, continuous excellence  Making it easier for people to access information in the format best suited for their requirements  Reaching new audiences through our volunteer network – regional conferences and workshops

Challenges we face…  Reaching people: There are many people and companies who still don’t know about IAPA and in some cases are not aware that they have a health and safety responsibility  Creating the market by helping leadership clearly understand the business case for prevention. As a social issue, health and safety is in its infancy.

LEADERSHIPLEADERSHIP INTEGRITYINTEGRITY RESPECTRESPECT RELATIONSHIPSRELATIONSHIPS IT’S ABOUT RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP Corporate Social Responsibility in a globalized industrial world is about making the business investment and the community promise sustainable for the company and for the communities we operate in, its people and environment. It demands:

 Modernize the code definitions  Codify rules for attributing criminal liability to organizations  Establish a legal duty to ensure the safety of workers and the public  Set out factors for a court to consider when sentencing an organization  Provide optional conditions of probation that a court can impose on an organization  The fine for a “summary conviction” has been increased from $25,000 to $100,000. Bill C-45 is an act to bring corporate responsibility to the criminal code. Health and safety is integrated into the over arching responsibility of organizations Specific to Health and Safety:

“We must be the change we wish to see in the world” Mahatma Gandhi
