Hierarchical Summarization of Mobility Data: A Mobility Cube Based System LuAn Tang, Tobias Lei

Motivation With advances of tracking devices, big mobility (trajectory) data are collected with long period of time We have collected the datasets of – T-drive, 3+ years data – Movebank, 10+ years data – Hurricane, 30+ years data

The end users are interesed in summarized information There has been a road construction in downtown LA since last month, what is the influence of this event to the traffic? Can you tell me the differences of the travel routes in Banff park, in winter and summer? Movebank collects the trajectories of ospery migration in the last 10 years, what is the major change in their migration paths inside the U.S.? What is the difference on the vehicle trajectories around a village in Afghanistan in day and night?

Mobility Network: Summarize the movements

Mobility Cube System  Offline Construction of a “mobility network” : The model summarizes the major moving patterns of the big dataset  Online Query: Use the contructed model to answer the ad-hoc quries in an efficient manner

Call for your participation We needs 1 or 2 students to work with us to build the system, who will also be the co- authors of the paper/demo submitted to top conferences Preferred – Knowledge on spatial/trajectory data – Good at Java programming – Experience on Google Map/Earth API
