{ The Pyramids of Giza By Whitney Burke

 The Pyramids of Giza were built in Giza, Egypt.  They were built roughly around the ages of 2550 to 2490 B.C.  The three pyramids have survived 4,500 years and are still in almost perfect condition. Location

 Pharaoh Khufu built the first pyramid, his son, Pharaoh Khafre built the second, and Pharaoh Menkaure built the third.  These pharaohs built these pyramids to serve as their tombs.  These pyramids were used to be the pharaohs’ grave site. Purpose

 The pyramids are so unique because not only is an ancient building phenomenon, but it also preserved the past within its stone walls.  It took around 20 years to build each pyramid.  It took about 2.3 million blocks of stone to build each pyramid and mortar was used to stick the stones together. Uniqueness

 There are two parallels to similar structures in use today.  One is the glass pyramid in front of the Louvre Museum in France. The other is the Great American Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee.  The Great Pyramid is one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, but the other two pyramids are not. Ancient Foresight
