Gamma Beta Phi  The name of the organization is derived from the initial letters of the three Greek words for education, life, and friendship.  It signifies that education and friendship constitute the basis of a full and happy life.  The motto of Gamma Beta Phi is Progressus per Eruditioneum (Progress through education).

Membership Dues  $15 local dues are due to Lauryn by the end of the 3rd meeting (October 6th)  NEW! National dues are only required by new members!

Fundraising Event  We’re waiting on Cane’s to get back with us to confirm the date  A portion of all the sales will go to GBP by mentioning GBP upon purchase.  Soooo, the more you spend, the more we get!

2016 National Convention!!!  National Convention will be February 26-27, 2016, at The University of Mississippi's campus (Oxford, MS).  The official convention hotel will be the Inn at Ole Miss, and room rates are $109/nt+tax for a standard room and $129/nt+tax for a deluxe room  Let us know via if you are interested in attending! That way we can gauge cost!

Digital Job Fair  For the first time, Gamma Beta Phi will be hosting a Digital Job Fair  The Job Fair is set for October 15, 2015, tentatively  Make sure your resumes are in before

How to Maintain Active Status  Attend at least 3 meetings per semester  If you are unable to attend a meeting due to class, us at or see us after the meeting  Attend 1 social event per semester  Attend 1 fundraising event per semester OR bring in $10 (in addition to Membership Dues) to a meeting before the end of the semester  Complete 5 hours of community service  Turn in a completed Points Sheet (with attached GBP Community Service Documentation forms) by the last meeting

Fall 2015 Meetings All meetings will be at 7PM in Coates 228  Wednesday, September 23  Tuesday, October 6  Local dues are due!  Wednesday, October 21  Halloween Social  Tuesday, November 3  Wednesday, November 18  Point sheets and service hours are due!

Ongoing Service  If you cannot attend the group service event, some other suggestions for obtaining your service hours include, but are not limited to:  Baton Rouge General Hospital  Ochsner Hospital  Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center  Hospice of Baton Rouge  Baton Rouge Food Bank  St. Vincent de Paul (dining, shelters, thrift store, pharmacy, council office)  “To Highland with Love” – Reading Friends

Requirements  If you are active for 75% of your semesters enrolled as a member in Gamma Beta Phi then you be able to apply for your grad cords and letter of recommendation  Special status: One semester guaranteed off and two will be reviewed by executive  If you are on probation for more than 2 semesters then you will not be eligible for grad cords

Points Competition!  The member with the most points at the end of the semester will win a prize!

WAYS TO EARN POINTS  Membership meetings and social events (beyond the participation requirements)  Bringing a non-GBP friend to a service event  Wearing GBP t-shirt to meeting= ½ pt.  +1 Social event beyond 1st required = 1pt.  5 hours of community service = 1 point (limited to a certain amount not yet determined)  Wear Halloween costume to Oct. 21st meeting  Listen for announcements for opportunities to earn extra points throughout the semester!
