 How many of you were born in Springdale?  Who wasn’t born in Arkansas?  Were any of your parents or grand parents born in another country?  Have any of your family members served in a war?  Do you have a piece of furniture, an old book, or a picture that has been in your family for a long time?  Is there someone notable in your family?

 Ancestor: a person from whom you are descended.  Pedigree Chart: a document that records your ancestors.  Genealogy: the research and study of family history/ancestors.  Generation: a family group representing a single step to an ancestor.  Archive: a place where public records or historical documents are kept.  Census: the numbering & collecting of information about our population by the government.

 When? – Every 10 years  How? – By households  1st Census: 1790  The 1890 Census burned in Washington DC  The latest census we can see and study is 1930
