I CAN: Find and write slope as a ratio. Use the ratios of sides and/or angles of figures to solve problems. Solve proportions using cross products. Set up proportions and use them to solve application problems.

What is a ratio? A ratio is a comparison of two numbers by division. It can be written in a few different ways.

Ratios in action… Slope is a ratio! I CAN: Find and write slope as a ratio.

Example I CAN: Use the ratios of sides and/or angles of figures to solve problems.

What is a proportion? A proportion is an equation stating that two ratios are equal.

Example Solve the proportion for the variable. Be sure to check your solutions. I CAN: Solve proportions using cross products.

Example I CAN: Solve proportions using cross products.

Example I CAN: Set up proportions and use them to solve application problems.
