 Obesity once associated only with adults is now affecting children!  Recently, cases of childhood obesity have increased significantly  An estimated 17.6 million children under five are overweight worldwide (WHO, 2003).

You work as nutritionist to create awareness about childhood obesity and propose feasible strategies to prevent and control obesity in the school community.

 How do I plan a healthy and nutritious balanced diet?  How do I prevent and control obesity in my school community?

 Form groups of five  Study about obesity and BMI calculation in detail  Conduct a survey of 15 Form 2 students  Prepare a survey sheet to collect data  Height and weight measurements  Food consumption for 3 consecutive days  Daily routine and family history  Calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI)  Analyse the data and relate it to the factors leading to obesity  Propose a balanced diet for the sample students  Devise strategies to control and prevent obesity
