The Centro Territoriale Permanente (CTP) in Maglie raised in 1997 and was located in the Scuola Secondaria di 1° grado i.e. 1st grade Secondary School. With the birth of CTPs, Italy gave new basis to Life Long Learning education, that started with 150h courses for workers. These courses were thought to fall into line with those of European countries. Besides courses to achieve the primary and 1 st grade Secondary School - leaving, there are course to achieve particular competencies. At the moment CTPs are not independent schools but they are subordinate to the 1 st grade Secondary School. Teachers are not really trained to teach to adults, but use their competence on the subject to improve the adult knowledge. The Italian Minister of Education is thinking to create CPIAs (Centri Provinciali Istruzione Adulti) that would inglobe the CTPs courses and the evening courses of the 2nd grade Secondary School. 1st grade Secondary School2nd grade Secondary School1st grade Secondary School2nd grade Secondary School A brief history

Italian for foregneirs T he CTP in Maglie runs courses in Italian for foreign citizens: Linguistic literacy courses Linguistic literacy courses Italian courses for linguistic and social integration Italian courses for linguistic and social integration A1 and A2 level CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) courses A1 and A2 level CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) courses B1 and B2 level CEFR courses B1 and B2 level CEFR courses Preparation courses for the CELI certification (Certificate in knowledge of Italian) in collaboration with Perugia University for foreign students. The CTP hosts level A2 exams in knowledge of Italian for long term residents to obtain the CE resident permit (protocol of agreement with Lecce Prefecture). The CTP offers civic training for non community citizens who have signed the integration agreement.
