Process and Approvals for Development of EERE Web Sites

Kick-Off Meeting Site purpose Audience Project scope Budget Schedule Roles Statistics needs News and events Unique application or database needs Please notify the Web Template Coordinator of your intention to build a site as soon as possible.Web Template Coordinator

Charter Elements Background Statement of Need –What problem are you trying to solve? Scope –Primary purpose and deliverables involved –What is NOT included? Overall Purpose –How does your project fit into EERE Web site? –How is it different than existing content? –How can existing content be leveraged?
Charter Elements (cont.) Site Goals - within the context of the program or site –How will this project help the program further its mission? –What are the desired results of this project? –What are your criteria for success? –How will you measure success?
Charter Elements (cont.) Audience –Who will use the deliverables? Project Description and Deliverables –Any special applications needed? –Which template will be used? Assumptions –All sites will go into the EERE Template and RedDot Content Management System Schedule and Budget.
Identify Content Inventory existing content Outline new content needed What content does your audience need to complete their tasks?
Draft Architecture Create draft architecture and navigation labels for mockups Refer to Library of Approved Navigation LabelsLibrary of Approved Navigation Labels Determine how subsites will fit into program sites.
Create Graphical Mockups All sites will go into an approved EERE Template and the RedDot Content Management System Create mockups of: –Home page –Sub-pages –Any subsites.

Phase III: Production Create navigation and header graphicsgraphics Prepare content for coding Code the site –All sites will go into the RedDot content management system.
Review and Approval Checkpoint Ensure the following are completed: Coding assessment using QA checklistQA checklist Applications not hosted on the central EERE infrastructure undergo a security scan.
Phase IV: Approval & Site Publishing Schedule QAs through Web Template CoordinatorWeb Template Coordinator –Technical –Template –Content –Search and optimization. Make changes based on results of QAs Coordinate pre go-live tasks –Redirects/bookmarks –Go-live date Send for Program review.
Review and Approval Checkpoint Ensure the following are completed: All critical changes identified in QA are made Obtain review and approval from EERE reviewers Obtain approval to go live through the Web Template Coordinator, who will coordinate with the EERE Web Manager.Web Template Coordinator Go Live!
Phase V: Maintenance & Ongoing Refinements Write a maintenance plan Consider further site analysis Stay informed –Join the listserv –Check the blog and add your comments
