E-reserve at UWA Library - the CMO & EPO in the LRS: Building the Foundation Project: WAULRAG Workshop 3 CMO & EPO in the LRS: Building the Foundation Project  Three key objectives: –Improve the delivery of Course Materials Online (CMO) and Examination Papers Online (EPO) –Move CMO and EPO from the Millennium system to the Learning Resources System (Hive) –Make recommendations regarding an ongoing organisational model  Commenced December 2005  Utilised PRINCE 2 Project Methodology  Project Board and implementation team established  Goal was to be using the new systems in time for Semester 1, 2006

E-reserve at UWA Library - the CMO & EPO in the LRS: Building the Foundation Project: WAULRAG Workshop 5 Development of the RLMS (Resource List Management System)  Developed specifically for UWA  RLMS acts as an interface for CMO; a layer between the user and the LRS (Hive) repository  Rapid development cycle - first version of RLMS in December 2005  Version installed on our server late January  Various changes – currently on v1.2.11

E-reserve at UWA Library - the CMO & EPO in the LRS: Building the Foundation Project: WAULRAG Workshop 6 Resource List Management System  CMO / RLMS presents links to items in a list for readers to access  Resources may be: –Book extracts (chapters) –Conference papers –Case law and legislation –Journal articles (in a subscribed database, on the web, or from a print resource) –Links to items with a record in the Library catalogue –Examination papers  Demonstration of Course Materials Online (CMO) Demonstration of Course Materials Online (CMO)

E-reserve at UWA Library - the CMO & EPO in the LRS: Building the Foundation Project: WAULRAG Workshop 7 Access for academic staff  Academic staff have “editing” access to CMO  Editing access allows them to: –Request new items via an online form –Add links to lists from the Library catalogue / LRS –Change the display of their lists by adding / changing groups –Change the time period over which lists are visible to students –Change the time period over which individual citations in lists are visible to students  Demonstration of “editing” access to CMO Demonstration of “editing” access to CMO

E-reserve at UWA Library - the CMO & EPO in the LRS: Building the Foundation Project: WAULRAG Workshop 8 Outcomes of the Project  All Semester 1 & 2, 2006 units added and populated  2454 new items were requested and processed for CMO in the new system from February – May 2006  Established Digital Repositories Unit – set up to: –Support LRS(Hive) and RLMS and other “repository” systems –Coordinate procedures, training and communication across the Library –Process new items added by academic staff
