MS Excel Learned the basics on Monday Text vs. Numbers vs. Formulas A formula may include a Function Formula may contain Reference Main Point: a few simple actions can be used for extensive data manipulation 4
MS Excel: New Ideas Relative reference vs. Absolute A “$” before column/row tells you that it’s not going to change if copied and pasted Otherwise, formula keeps same relative position to ref Importing data Splitting and freezing panes Making a chart Pick right type for your data (bar, XY scatter) Process changes greatly depending on edition Basic Idea: chart as placeholder, put data sets in to chart one by one 5 Demo up front with sample files
