TEACHING DRUG EDUCATION, PROTECTION FOR KIDS, BULLYING AND INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS. PROMOTES PROGRAMS LIKE ‘MUNCH CRUNCH SIP’ AND ‘2 + 5 CAMPAIGN’ PDHPE Rationale Why is it important to teach in schools?

Game Sense (PE) - Builds interpersonal relationships and builds self confidence. - Builds skills and techniques for future sports. - Improves concentration in everyday learning. - Promotes a healthy active lifestyle. - Includes all children regardless of fitness levels as it focuses on the game not the skill level of child. - Integrates ‘whole’ student. (eg- mental, physical, development etc)

Nutrition in Schools - Promoting healthy eating habits in the classroom and out. Introducing programs like ‘Munch, Crunch and Sip’ and the ‘2+5 campaign’. To encourage nutrition in child’s everyday routine. - Using the ‘Food Plate’ and identifying how to incorporate different foods in the right amounts. - Nutritional benefits of foods for the body.

‘Munch Crunch Sip’ and ‘2+5’ ‘Munch Crunch Sip’ – allows students to have a time out during the day to eat healthy foods and rehydrate with water. By incorporating this into the day allows students to incorporate it into their everyday lives. ‘2+5’ – highlights the need for 2 fruit and 5 vegetables per day for a healthy diet.

HPE In Schools Learning about child protection and making children aware of what signs to be aware of. Aspects of Bullying – Causes and Consequences. How to approach the issue in schools. Involving parents in these issues and making the issues fun and interactive but also sending the correct messages to children.
