Personal Ties Facilitate Formal and Informal Networking Chico, Corning, Paradise Rotary Clubs Gridley Quota Club Chico DIG (Downtown Integrated Garden) Tribal organizations $ contributions Butte-Glenn Medical Society & cooking classes grant Local non-profits and special interest groups, e.g. Butte Bike Coalition, Museum Sustainability Garden

Making Partnerships Work What does it take? Collaborative governance requires 3 elements: Sponsor- an agency, foundation, civic organization, public-private coalition, etc. to initiate and provide support Convener/Leader- someone with power and ability to bring diverse people together to work on common problems Neutral Forum- an impartial organization or venue, etc. to provide and ensure skilled process management

Staying Strong with Budget Uncertainty The situation? The response? Plan for action? Broaden funding portfolio Use personal ties to enhance partnerships Two funding streams per staff member All ideas are on the table, e.g. fee for service Build staff leadership You don’t need a title to be a leader Motivate with flex time to increase creativity
