What are supplements? a dietary supplement is a product (other than tobacco) that: is intended to supplement the diet contains one or more dietary ingredients (including vitamins; minerals; herbs or other botanicals; amino acids; and other substances) or their constituents is intended to be taken by mouth as a pill, capsule, tablet, or liquid is labeled on the front panel as being a dietary supplement

Will supplements make me play better, lose weight, or need less sleep? No

Can supplements relieve stress? No

Are supplements regulated like medications? No, the FDA does not regulate supplements.

Are supplements proven safe and effective? No, there is no research based data to prove whether or not supplements do anything Supplements do not make-up for a balanced healthy diet. They are often quite expensive and most of the contents will be excreted out of your body as waste in urine or feces.

More on Supplements You also need to be very careful that you don’t overdose. Some vitamins and minerals are water soluble. If you take too much you will excrete the excess. Some are fat soluble which means it gets stored in the body. If you have too much you can overdose. You may get sick or even die from this.
