“Inspiring People to Care About the Planet” Mission In Action “Inspiring People to Care About the Planet” “Since 1888, we've traveled the Earth, sharing its amazing stories with each new generation. National Geographic's Mission Programs support critical expeditions and scientific fieldwork, encourage geography education for students, promote natural and cultural conservation, and inspire audiences through new media, vibrant exhibitions, and live events. Witness the mission in action, and get involved today!” © 1996-2008 National Geographic Society. All rights reserved.

“Exploration and Conservation” Mission In Action “Exploration and Conservation” Projects Photograph by Beverly Joubert “National Geographic grants support exploration, research, and conservation efforts around the globe. “Inspiring People to Care About the Planet” Mission Of Site “Inspiring People to Care About the Planet” This mission statement says a lot about the entire National Geographic organization, and sets a pretty high standard for itself. As a branch of the National Geographic website, the NG Adventure also has these high standards, but caters specifically to the adventurous. In fact, the site’s motto is: “Dream it, Plan it, Do it.” © 1996-2008 National Geographic Society. All rights reserved.

Mission Of Site “Dream it, Plan it, Do it.” The site provides several easy-to-navigate links which enables the visitor to follow this motto. Best of Adventure The year's best achievements, gear, destinations, and more. Click photos to go to site! © 1996-2008 National Geographic Society. All rights reserved.

Target Audience “Dream it, Plan it, Do it.” The target audience of the NG Adventure site is those who are looking for adventure. Whether that means getting out and exploring the world themselves, or just experience other’s adventures through photography as well as stories posted to the site’s blog, everyone can be satisfied. © 1996-2008 National Geographic Society. All rights reserved.

Media “Dream it, Plan it, Do it.” The NG Adventure site uses such media as video, pictures and music to provide the visitor with an easy and fun experience when visiting the site. © 1996-2008 National Geographic Society. All rights reserved.

Media “Dream it, Plan it, Do it.” The Video section provides many clips that take the viewer along on adventure trips, as well as NG events such as award shows and interviews. The Picture section provides the visitor with tons of photos taken by both professional and amateur photographers. The Music section features the NG music radio, a plethora of genres and artists as well as music videos. © 1996-2008 National Geographic Society. All rights reserved.

Effectiveness “Dream it, Plan it, Do it.” National Geographic Adventure’s website effectively uses rhetoric to persuade and influence visitors to live adventurously, or at least fuel their sense of adventure. The Web site caters primarily to those already interested in the content, however, so in that respect its influential abilities are somewhat limited. Nevertheless, NG’s reputation as a leader in its field establishes it as the most likely source that people will turn to if interested in adventure. © 1996-2008 National Geographic Society. Conclusion “Dream it, Plan it, Do it.” National Geographic Adventure’s motto of “Dream it, Plan it, Do it” is very well established through their Web site. Successful use of rhetoric and various media provides adventure lovers and thrill seekers alike with ample material to inspire them to live life adventurously. © 1996-2008 National Geographic Society.
