NORTHLAND

TWIN COAST DISCOVERY HIGHWAY The Twin Coast Discovery Highway starts in Auckland and proceeds to the top of the North Island, hugging both the East and West Coasts.

KAURI COAST Part of the west coast of Northland is referred to as the ‘Kauri Coast’ due to the large stand of ancient Kauri growing there. Much of the tourism activities on this side of the coast offer access and cultural interpretation of these massive trees.

TOP OF NEW ZEALAND Visitors can take a guided tour up to the northern most part of New Zealand – Cape Reinga. It is a place of great spiritual significance to Maori.

BIRTH OF A NATION New Zealand’s founding document – The Treaty of Waitangi, was signed at Waitangi. Visitors can take a tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and view a replica of the Treaty, meeting houses and New Zealand’s largest waka – Maori war canoe.
