Mark #5, The Journey to the Cross & Beyond 2. The Passion of Jesus -The Plot, 14:1,2,10,11 -Jesus pre-anointed for burial at Bethany, 14:3-9 -The Last Supper, 14: Jesus in Gethsemane, 14: His trial before Caiaphas, 14: His denial by Peter, 14: His hearing before Pilate, 15:1-20 -The Crucifixion, 15: The Burial, 15: The Resurrection, 16:1-8 -Disciples Commissioned, 16:9-20

Mark #5, The Journey to the Cross & Beyond All of this is to some degree important or it wouldn’t otherwise be in the text. Nonetheless, it seems that a few points are especially relative: 1. the Crucifixion. 2. the Burial. 3. the Resurrection. 4. the Commissioning of the Twelve.

Mark #5, The Journey to the Cross & Beyond The Importance of the Crucifixion. Jesus died for your sins & mine. Rom.3:23 & 6:23 Jesus was separated from the His Father that we might be joined to Him eternally, 15:34 > 2Cor.5:21 > Rom.5:6-11. The Crucifixion of Jesus proved His Humanity- God cannot die! Heb.2:17

Mark #5, The Journey to the Cross & Beyond The Importance of the Resurrection. As death proved His humanity, the Resurrection from the dead proved His divinity! This gives us hope! Our bodies too must die…. but this is not our end anymore than it was for Jesus! We too will be resurrected, 1Cor.15:12-28.

Mark #5, The Journey to the Cross & Beyond The Importance of the Commission. It contains the very core of the gospel which was and must be preached to all creation, v.15. It tells us how we too must be crucified to be resurrected: -Believe and be Baptized, Rom.6:3 -to be Saved, Rom.6:4-11.

Mark #5, The Journey to the Cross & Beyond Think about this as we conclude our study of Mark: Are all the miracles and teachings of Jesus, the life that He lived, wasted on you? Is the sacrifice of His Passion for naught your case? Does His/the Resurrection inspire you with Hope or Dread?
