Geometric Optics This chapter covers how images form when light bounces off mirrors and refracts through lenses. There are two different kinds of images:

9/20/20001 DVD Miracle Watermark OUTLINE We present an unique physical watermark for DVD. It is called “Miracle Watermark”. The Miracle Watermark can be used as an individual mark for each disc. The Miracle Watermark appears in light beam reflection and can be visible without magnification. This technology is application of optical phenomenon.

9/20/20002 DVD Miracle Watermark PRINCEPLE The reflective surface has microscopic undulation. The microscopic undulations make microscopic convex and concave mirrors that makes reflection beam convergent and divergent. When parallel incident light beams are exposed on it, the beams are reflected toward various directions. If a projection plate is inserted in the reflection beams, a mark pattern is created from the variety of reflection beam intensity. Then we can see the Miracle Watermark. dimple mirror

9/20/20003 DVD Miracle Watermark PRODUCTION The miracle watermark is produced in the disc bonding process. The bonding machine needs only a little change. Insert a watermark shielding mask in the bonding machine. Transparent of the light is changed, the watermark gradation is changed.

9/20/20004 DVD Miracle Watermark CHARACTARISTICS Very easy and low cost watermark Resistance against piracy Do not influence disc data quality. The watermark disappears when disc is peeled off. The watermark can be used as an unique mark of each disc. Visible through the disc case. The contrast of watermark can be changed as you like. Usable for dual and double sided discs. Usable for DVD-ROM, RAM, R and RW discs.

9/20/20005 DVD Miracle Watermark APLICATIONS Each disc can have a serial number or a key. Users can recognize the authorized disc immediately. By changing the combination of mark patterns, you can make strong anti-pirate discs.
