INTRODUCTION  High School Graduation is coming soon and it is time to begin thinking about your future  Although thinking about your future can be scary, today you will learn tools that will help guide you in making a good, solid decision

LESSON GOALS  You will learn about your skills, interests, and work values  You will learn about the variety of resources that are available to search careers  You will learn how to conduct a labor market survey

WHAT ARE YOUR SKILLS & INTERSTS?  The first step to choosing a career is getting to know your skills and interests  The most common way is by taking aptitude and interest assessments  Today you will take the CHOICES Aptitude and Interest test

CAREER RESOURCES  Once you know your skills and interests, you will be ready to explore careers  Career books are available such as the Occupational Outlook Handbook or Vocational Career Series  Career Websites Career Websites

LABOR MARKET SURVEY  After researching various careers you will choose 3 careers that interest you  You will conduct a labor market survey on these three careers  The purpose of a labor market survey (LMS) is to collect enough information to help you make a decision on what career you want to pursue

CONCLUSION  Thinking about your future can be scary, but knowing your skills and interests can help you choose your career with confidence  There is no way to be 100% sure which career is right for you - but these tools will increase your chances of choosing the right career
