Format Section I: Employment Information that pertains to All Employees Section II: Employment Information that pertains to Contracted Teachers Section III: Employment Information that pertains to Non-Exempt Hourly Employees (Secretaries, Custodians, Food Service, Educational Assistant, Interpreter, Accounting Specialist, Bus Driver, Recreation, Coaches) Section IV: Employment Information that pertains to Salaried & Hourly Exempt Employees (Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapist, OT/PT Assistants, Payroll Coordinator, Technical Specialist, Administrative Assistant, Psychologist, Social Worker, Nurses, Recreation Management, Human Resources Coordinator) Section V:Employment Information that pertains to Exempt-Administrators

Key Employment Conditions Unchanged for the School Year Health Insurance : No change in plan and deductibles. Dental Insurance, Life Insurance & Long-Term Disability Insurance : No Change; paid for by the District for eligible employees.

Key Employment Conditions Unchanged for the School Year Retirement : Same as Collective Bargained Agreements and School Board Policy. Personal Days: No change in personal days from last year.

Key Employment Conditions Unchanged for the School Year Sick Leave: No change in sick leave from last year. Workday: No change in the normal teacher workday from last year.

Handbook Key Highlights/Changes Full-Time for Health Insurance: 37.5 hr/wk. Obligation to Report Criminal Record : Any felony or misdemeanor which violates public trust. Grievance Procedure: Discipline, Termination and/or Workplace Safety. Sick Leave: Half-days only for medical appointments unless medically necessary to utilize a full-day.

Handbook Key Highlights/Changes Personal Leave : District may limit the number on any given day. Teachers may not use a personal day on parent teacher conference day or inservice days. Parental Leave: Up to two semesters, Health Insurance for 12 weeks. Administratively Called Meetings: May occur outside the 8-hour workday. Reasonable notice will be provided and meetings will be conducted within a reasonable amount of time. TSA: As of July 2012, spouses may not have health insurance and in lieu of TSA benefits.

Handbook Key Highlights/Changes Attendance at School Events : Attendance at academically-related events may be required, two weeks notice provided. Teacher Evaluation Process : Emphasizes goal setting and reflection, fewer evaluations required. Salary: Will be based upon individual performance, collaboration, professional responsibilities and student achievement. Teacher Professional Development: There are several initiatives that are being evaluated. The District will be involving Franklin teachers and administrators in providing feedback on frameworks for professional development that may be tied to compensation.

Handbook Key Highlights/Changes Layoffs/Non-renewals: Based upon Educational Needs of the District, Employee Performance and Length of Service as deemed appropriate by administration. A reemployment list is created and employees may apply for a vacant position. Seniority is one factor in determining who will be recalled. Lunch : At seven (7) hours employees are entitled to a lunch break. The administration may assign a lunch break to any employee working more than six (6) hours/day. Emergency Closings : Unpaid for hourly employees, however employees may be asked to make up the paid time.

Handbook Key Highlights/Changes & Postings: Information must be connected to employment at the District. The Building Principal or District Administrator must approve a copy of all posted material or that is to be sent to any groups of staff within the District. Vacation: Custodial and SOEA Employees get 20 days of vacation after 14 years. Holidays: Interpreters, LPN’s, Bus Drivers and non-union part- time employees gain three (3) holidays. Food Service employees gain one (1) holiday. Employees who work less than four (4) hours a day are ineligible for holiday pay.
