The Census is a count of everyone living in the U.S. including all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa. Data is used to determine funding.

Census answers are confidential There are no questions about the legal status of respondents. U.S. Census Bureau does not release or share information about individual respondents or their household for 72 years.

Costs taxpayers $80 – $90 million for every 1% not mailed in. Home visit estimates could reach 47 million homes with a cost of $3 billion.

2000 Census: About 20,000 Broward County residents were not counted Census: The national average mail back rate was 67%. Broward County ranked 87 in the Country with only a 63% mail back rate. We lost about $260 million in funding over the next ten years.
