How to Buy Something By: Katie Adler

What to Buy  Decide what you would like to buy, then head to the store!

What are you paying for?  Whether you’re at the store in town or online shopping, you need to purchase the item.

Where to pay  At the store, go to the cashier and get your money out and ready to pay for your item(s).  If your shopping online, find the checkout button, and proceed to checking out.

What to pay with  Cash  Credit Cards  Debit Cards  Gift Certificates  Checks(only some stores accept them)

Paying with Cash  Bills come in $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100  Coins come in 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, and 25¢  Special Coins are half dollar and one dollar.

Example  If you buy a shirt for $10.50, you can pay for if many ways: 1. A $10 bill, and two 25¢ coins 2. Two $5 bill’s, and five 10¢ coins 3. One $5 bill, five $1 bill’s and 10 5¢ coins

After Paying  Take your receipt in case you need to return your purchase for some reason.  Use your new item!

If You Need Return the Item…  Head back to the store with your receipt and price sticker or tag still on.  Bring the item to the cashier  Pick out a new item with your money or save it for another time.

Enjoy Your New Item!
