Ayrshire eCare Consortium Project The Partnership Project was tasked with the delivery of an electronic solution for data sharing across geographical and agency boundaries in Ayrshire that must be :  fully integrated  robust & (above all)  secure

The main objectives of the Ayrshire eCare Project for MGF2 were :  The implementation of an electronic single shared assessment framework for older people across Ayrshire;  To ensure that staff have access to the information they need when and where they need it and that underlying support mechanisms are in place to maintain the service;  To create a resilient, scaleable environment capable of expanding into other service areas;  To manage the seamless integration of current software platforms into a central eCare server and to provide the subsequent information to clinicians and practitioners as is appropriate. Ayrshire eCare Consortium Project

Ayrshire eCare Consortium Project Compromise was NEVER an option

Ayrshire eCare Consortium To achieve our aims we needed to be willing and open to :  Learning  Sharing  Developing

Ayrshire eCare Consortium To achieve our aims we needed to be willing and open to :  Learning  Sharing  Developing  & (Stealing!!)

Ayrshire eCare Consortium Project Our Strengths  Shared background & values  Established working relationships  Strong sense of direction  Supported by Senior Management  But most importantly – practitioner enthusiasm and engagement

Ayrshire eCare Consortium Project “By sharing information and experiences we have better learned to trust and respect each other’s professional judgement and experience - rather than differences, we now focus on our shared values and purpose. That is not to say differences are not important but if we are truly person centered then that means finding an acceptable compromise for the benefit of service users.” Community Care Social Worker Aug ‘04

Ayrshire eCare Consortium Project “Social work staff largely have their own PC’s and dedicated software system; we have one PC between nine nursing staff and no system. We are continuing to strive to develop and improve our integrated working, including improving processes locally. We have now reached the limits of our current systems. The eCare database is urgently needed to better share and communicate. ” District Nursing Sister October ‘04

Ayrshire eCare Consortium Project Medical Director NHS Ayrshire & Arran June ‘05 “eCare is a national programme. What is going on in Ayrshire is being replicated across Scotland. We have however, a long history of close working and co-operation between the NHS and our local authority colleagues and eCare will allow us to build on this strong foundation thus enabling us to put an electronic solution in place that will better provide high quality care for the residents of Ayrshire & Arran”

Ayrshire eCare Consortium Project Early Lessons Learned  Importance of Admin Support  Ability to Problem Solve  Improved Communication Systems  Focus on Documentation and Duplication  Encouraged Multi-Agency Discussion  Identified Training Needs  Sharing Information Does Work  Closer Working Relationships Ward Sister Jul ‘04
