Corruption Defined  Different definitions depending upon jurisdiction  Corrupt conduct, as defined in the Independent Commission Against Corruption Act 1988 (NSW), is deliberate or intentional wrongdoing, not negligence or a mistake.  Transparency International definition - the abuse of entrusted power for private gain.  Bribery: the offering, promising, giving, accepting or soliciting of an advantage as an inducement for an action which is illegal or a breach of trust.  Fraud: any attempt to deceive another party to gain a benefit

Classes of Corruption  Petty corruption  Smaller scale and occurs within established social frameworks and governing norms  Grand corruption  Acts committed at a high level of government that distort policies or the central functioning of the state, enabling leaders to benefit at the expense of the public good  Systemic corruption  Systemic corruption (or endemic corruption) is corruption which is primarily due to the weaknesses of an organization or process.
