Do they make a sound? Yes! They sing like birds. They sing chirps and whistles. They can be heard through boat hulls and aquarium walls.

Where do belugas live? They live in the Arctic Ocean and it’s surrounding seas. Including the Bering sea, the gulf of Alaska and Canada’s Hudson bay. They all live on the top half of earth.

What do belugas look like? Belugas have a small, round head with a short, broad, beak like snout. Belugas have a flexible neck. It’s flippers are short, broad, and rounded. They also lack a dorsal fin.

How big can belugas get? Belugas are about 18 ft. They are small. They are the smallest whale.

Do belugas have a nickname? Yes they do. Sailors call them sea canaries. Their chirps and whistles can be heard through boat hulls and aquarium walls. They are also called white whales.

Do belugas migrate? Yes they do. They migrate to the Arctic in the spring. They go south in the fall.

What are beluga babies like? A beluga baby is called a calf. At birth it is about 5 ft. long. A calf is gray or brown with spots.

What does beluga mean? Beluga means white one in the Russian language. Belugas are completely white. But beluga babies are gray or brown.

What are they like? Belugas are 10 to18 ft. long. Males are larger than females. A thick layer of blubber keeps them warm.
