Objective: I can identify the characteristics and structural elements of poetry. Verse Verse is a single line of poetry. Think of it as a “poetic sentence”, often without punctuation.

6. Rhyme Scheme Example: Roses are red, (A) Violets are blue, A poem’s rhyme scheme refers to how the verses end. It is end rhyme pattern The letter “A” is assigned to the last word on the first line. Example: Roses are red, (A) Violets are blue, Sugar is sweet, and so are you.

7. Rhyme Scheme Then compare it to the last word at the end of line 2 If it rhymes with the line above, then it gets the same letter, if it does not rhyme, then it gets the next letter in the alphabet Roses are red, (A) Violets are blue, (B) Sugar is sweet, and so are you.
