Harvard Network Organization Multiple Networks--the only commonality is connection to the Internet through the University Information Services (except for Harvard Business School on hbs.edu) Independence beyond this of: –FAS/Law School –Harvard Medical School –Harvard Business School –Central Administration/small schools
Campus-wide goals Seamless wireless access for all Harvard ID holders. (this excludes various Harvard affiliates, unfortunately). Identical network logon experience for all Harvard ID holders. Relatively easy access for visitors, non-ID affilates, with security.
Current experiments FAS--One-time user authentication/MAC address registration/closing access to insecure applications/wireless supernet. Central Administration(UIS)/Harvard Medical School--BlueSocket, Vernier trial.
