Background Athletes such as Olympians and professional sports figures have stated that they have engaged in intimate communication and sexual relations prior to their athletic events. Many claim that sexual activity increases their athletic performance.

Preview The hormonal factors related to sexual activity and athletic performance. The psychological factors related to sexual activity and athletic performance. The relationship between condom use and the Olympics Games. Athletes personal narratives. Limiting Factors Future Research Ideas

Hormonal Factors: Female The pituitary gland is responsible for producing and storing hormones, such as Oxytocin. Benefits of Oxytocin: a pain reliever released during sexual climax.

Hormonal Factors: Males The role of testosterone in physical activity: Type of adrenaline that helps males perform aggressively. Refraining from sex for at least 3 months can decrease testosterone dramatically.

Psychological Factors: The Olympic Village The Mere Exposure Effect The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy Sexual Performance, or lack there of, may effect concentration.

Condoms and the Olympic Village “Sexual Doping” Amount of condoms at the Olympic Games is increasing.

Olympian Narratives Hope Solo Bob Beamon

Professional Athletes and Teams Tiger Woods Buffalo Bills Magic Johnson Wilt Chamberlin Ronda Rousey

Limitations The Olympic Games have changed over the years. Amount of information we have. The various types of intimate communication: Type of activities Length of time Amount of physical exertion

Future Research Create a research proposal testing our hypothesis on Athletes at Bloomsburg University. Hand out surveys and questionnaires to Bloomsburg University student athletes.

Conclusion We believe that sexual doping DOES increase athletic performance, especially in males.
