Healthier Communities with CTG Annual Update September 25, 2013

Health Begins Where We Live, Work, Learn, and Play

Community Transformation Grant - Large Increase smoke free multi-unit, low income private housing. Increase the number of tobacco free and smoke free worksite campuses. Increase the number of comprehensive plans with health promoting language that comply with the existing Washington State law on transportation and community planning. Increase the number of employers with policies that promote access to affordable, healthful foods and beverages for their employees and clients/customers.

Community Transformation Grant - Small Increase the number of child care centers that are using whole foods to increase healthier options on the menu. – Let’s Cook Whole Foods Classes – Individual technical assistance – Cooks Connection – Whole foods purchasing

Conclusion CTG provides valuable resources to support Healthier Communities in Spokane County. The Healthy Communities Program strives to create sustainable activities and partnerships to increase healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco cessation and reduce senior falls. Significant community behavior change will depend on our leaders willingness to embrace systems, policies, and environments that support health lifestyles where we live, work, learn, and play.
