Technical Colleges Offer a variety of programs. Students are able to focus on a certain career goal. Degrees range from certificates to bachelors and beyond. There are 5 technical colleges in Washington offering about 130 programs. –Bates Technical College: –Bellingham Technical College: –Clover Park Technical College: –Lake Washington Technical College: –Renton Technical College:

2-Year College Information Most have rolling admissions and require a placement test instead of SAT or ACT Although they have fewer admission requirements, students still must be prepared for college level work, or will need remediation Offer Certificate and Degree programs including technical programs Have activities that still allow students the “college experience” Applications are due later than 4 year college applications, but numbers are at an all time high and classes fill up fast!

Current WA State 4-Year College Requirements CourseCredits English 4.0 Social Studies3.0 Math through Algebra II (prefer Pre-Calculus) 3.0 This is in addition to students being required to take math or chemistry their senior year unless Pre-Calculus has already been completed Foreign Language2.0 Fine Arts1.0 Lab Science2.0 * GPA, SAT & ACT scores examined for admission in addition to core academic courses.

4-Year College Information Be aware of application deadlines and fees: fee waivers are available, and some schools waive the fee for online applications. Scholarship deadlines are usually different--and often earlier-- than admissions deadlines, and require separate applications. Make sure to check school website for information on scholarship deadlines. Priority admissions: Students apply at an earlier time and are notified earlier. Automatic vs. comprehensive review: some schools have automatic admission with minimum GPA. Most schools also use the comprehensive review which looks at students holistically. Counselors will be meeting with 4 year college bound students during FLEX time mid-October: listen to the bulletin for details
