Presentation transcript:

This is one ugly spider but it can actually be quite harmless if it is depoisoned and it can become a house pet. Some people are arachnophobia it is funny watching them freak out when seeing a spider. I laugh Ha-ha

Habitat Tarantulas occur worldwide. Those found in North America occur in the southern and southwestern states, including the dry and warmer parts of the southern California. These are smaller and generally have a body length of less than 2 inches and a leg span of 3 to 4 inches. Some tarantulas live in underground burrows, some live on the ground and other live in the trees and they live also live in rain forests and desserts.

Environment of the desert Some desert tarantulas can store water in there body which keeps them from dehydrating in the harsh dry desert and also it has a spool of string in its butt so it can make a web so it can stay off the hot dry sand.

Insects, mainly. Spiders digest their food externally. They will generally only eat live food, although some will accept dead prey and some big spiders will apparently eat small pieces of raw meat. After catching and killing their prey, tarantulas inject it with powerful digestive enzymes that liquefy the insect's contents. When the insides have been sufficiently liquefied, the tarantula sucks the insect dry and throws away the empty husk. Food chain

This organism is a consumer and a because it eats and then poops out what eats Producer, consumer, or decomposer

F ood Web

Population In the southern states such as Texas and California they can have a tarantula up to 15 every mile. Through the last 10 years the population seems to have stayed the same but with a few peeks in both directions

C ommunity The tarantulas share a community with many organisms such as smaller spiders, birds and smaller insects. birds would be the top of the list and spiders next then insects. WOW!

N iche The tarantulas have a niche that it is very important, they keep the insect level under controlled

B alance Man hasn’t disturbed a tarantulas ecosystem except when they take tarantulas as pets. If the tarantulas where to disappear the ecosystem would fall out of balance and the insects would over populate
