SITES SOFTWARE APPLICATION SEMINAR __________________________ SITES INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT for WATER RESOURCE SITE ANALYSIS SITES IN SERIES Complex Watersheds

TRAINING OBJECTIVES Working knowledge of SITES software for a simple series routing

NODE or JUNCTION REACH STRUCTURE SUBWATERSHED REACH STRUCTURE

Example Sites in series

d Model of routing diagram for site 58d Schematic diagram of the example in the previous slide

SITES IN SERIES

SITES 14 & 15 LOWER SITE 17 (B-1) There are 17 sites in this watershed under consideration. Site 14 is above 15. There are 16 sites above 17.

Sites 14 & 15 Lower Site 17

Elements are added by default in the upstream direction. Recall that sites 14 and 15 are a portion of the previous schematic.

TOOL BAR FOR FIRST SITE STARTING THE WATERSHED SCHEMATIC

NEXT ADD THE REACH ABOVE THE LOWER SITE

NOW ADD UPPER SITE The upper site is considered built or in place for the design of the lower site.

Upper Site (designed and considered in place before the start of series routing for design of Lower Site) Reach 3500’ - with cross-section #200 Lower Site (to be designed) Sites in Series Example

On the first screen, either start a new project or open an existing project (created earlier using the interface).

The last 5 projects worked on will show up on the file menu. Click to load one of these projects. Last 5

Right clicking in the peach colored area brings up the GoTo Block

Right clicking on an element causes a menu to appear. Selecting “edit element” allows data entry or revision.

Label for the lower structure - LWTST

Label for Reach - 1

Highlight “edit element” to edit existing data or input data for the element.

Right clicking on the upper site brings up the menu which will allow the user to import a designed site.

Selecting the designed site saves entering the data again.

X-section rating information Note the reach ID

After the file is “Built” the output data can be displayed. Below the hydrographs with 200’ wide spillway is highlighted.

Zoom capabilities

Note change in graph scales from previous slide. Before zoom

Below we have selected output for the BW: 200’ spillway.

Selecting “output” from the menu gives text output. For the lower site it will look like the output from the.out file. Note the edit is not available.

More of the text output

You can change summary fields.

Select the data fields to be displayed by rows on the summary table.

This shows output by row rather than by columns.

Note that the line must be highlighted to view graphs or text (buttons below). This data is displayed by columns rather than by rows.

Double clicking on the material to change brings up the color chart. Changing Colors

Changing colors

Select the color you want to change and what you want to change it to. Then add to custom colors.

Note the edit is available The find feature is available here but not for the output accessible from the schematic menu.

Help is available at each input screen
