Budget Filmmaking Tips and Techniques

Use your phone as a boom Mic The audio quality from your phone will be much better for recording dialogues which will eliminate the need for dubbing in post-production.

Colourful Poster Boards for Keying Keying works well with poster boards because of their nature of flat colours. You can use any colour as long as its different than the colour of the subject.

Foam Boards as Reflectors Foam Board are used even in professional studios instead of regular reflectors. You can use almost anything white which is reflect light.

Use Aluminium Foil for Hard Light Reflection Aluminium foil are the cheapest light reflectors which you usually already have in your household.

Rubber/Tape for Light Streak Effect You do not need an expensive filter. A rubber or tape will do for a light streak effect.

Carve a Shape for different Lens Effects Carb out shaped off of black chart papers and keep them in front of your lens for different background shape effects.

Tripod as a Slider/Steady Cam Holder Just use 2 legs and then move it for a slider effect. Mount your camera on to the tripod and the hold the tripod while shooting videos for a smooth video.
