Social Studies 8 When Worldviews Clash Adaptation and Change

Agenda for the Day 1.Important Dates: Report Cards 2.Discussion Questions: Lesson 7a 3.Creating your poem 4.Questions?????

What Worldview is Presented? In the roads lie the broken spears... without roofs are the houses, And red are their walls with blood. Maggots swarm in the streets and squares... The waters have turned crimson, as if they were dyed... In shields was our defence, But shields could not hold back the desolation. We have eaten....lumps of adobe, Lizards and rats, soil turned to dust, and even the worms.

Discussion Questions Radical Change Assignment 7a:

Creating your own Poem or Song The Aztecs fought hard to protect their civilization, but the Spanish had three very powerful advantages....weaponry, strategy and disease. In the end, this proved impossible to overcome. It is now YOUR turn to write a song or poem that reflects your thoughts on the Aztecs last days. You may choose to write your poem from the Aztec point of view, OR the Spanish point of view. Be careful to include the correct worldview in your poem or song! You may also wish to include a graphic or image to accompany your poem or song. Your poem/song must be at least 3 stanzas in length with a minimum of 4 lines in each stanza. Remember, this is a minimum, please feel free to include more! You should attempt to capture the feelings and observations of those people living through this - Spanish or Aztec!

What’s Coming Up? 1.Coming to the end of Aztec and Spanish unit 2.On to Japan…. 3.Final questions???
