Background to Birdon Group /TAFE NCI MOU  April 2005 Commercial unit contacts Birdon Marine to discuss training needs /skill shortage  May 2005 Skills analysis completed for Birdon Marine Group  June 2005 Industry partnering MOU signed.  July 2005 TAFE provides advanced welding training for 16 staff (leveraging CTP and fee for service) value $30,000  Oct 2005 Additional welders trained.  Feb 2006 TAFE/Birdon Marine prepare funding submission under skilling Australia’s Defence industry (SADI) value $380,  May 2006 Management and Supervisor training for management team  June 2006 Computer training

The industry partnership and Birdon Group new approach to training Prior to the industry partnership MOU, The Birdon group undertook training based on a as needs basis. After the signing of the industry partnerships training is based on a planned approach.  Birdon has approximately 100 Employee’s Continuous training and skills development is now a key focus of the organisation.
