Presentation transcript:

 Please choose a smart seat for yourself and begin working on your Student Information handouts.  Put your schedule and transcript on the corner of your desk. I will be checking in the first 10 minutes of class.

When you find your partner(s), discuss the following questions. Be prepared to introduce your partner(s) to the class. Questions: 1) What’s your hometown and what is one interesting fact about it? 2) What was the most fun or interesting thing you did over the summer? 3) What is one thing that most people do not know about you?

This is Advanced Composition (but it’s an on- level class).  To send documents, me here – Make the blog your new best friend: Remind101:  to

 Spiral Notebook  Folder  Notebook Paper  Pen - BRING ONE EVERY DAY!  Suggested: Colored Pencils/Markers, Highlighter  Helpful: Kleenex Book:  Persepolis – You need this in November.

1) Be respectful – of your teacher, peers, classroom, and yourself. 2) Be responsible – for your own learning. 3) Comply with all the school rules.

- Respectful Behavior - Dress Code - NO HATS or headgear! - No HEADPHONES, cell phones, iPods, iPads, or any other electronic devices unless we are using them for INSTRUCTIONAL PURPOSES. - Tardies – Get a pass. No exceptions. - No food and drink in the classrooms. - Food = Bugs. Ewwwww.

1) Warning – Name on the board, verbal warning, tap on your desk, etc. 2) Possibilities, depending on the problem…. 1) Student/Teacher Conference 2) Detention* 3) Parent/Teacher Conference/Phone Call 4) Time-Out 3) Referral – Occurs for blatant disrespect, constant disregard of school rules, and/or multiple steps on #2 with no improvement

1) Come to the door. 2) Say hello. 3) Smile. 4) Sit down. 5) Take out your stuff. 6) Read the board. 7) Read the warm-up. 8) Begin the warm-up. 9) Stay in your seat. 10) Work quietly. 11) Get tickets!*

 Raise your hand when you have a question. *Chances are – if you have the question, someone else probably has it too.  Please do NOT interrupt instruction to ask for bathroom, passes, etc. You need to wait for independent work time for that.  Work diligently every day, and you will be fine.

I know you want to leave! I do, too. BUT - You are not dismissed until I dismiss you! We will pick up the classroom EVERY DAY if you can’t do it yourself. You will complete your exit slip/summarizer/final instructions/whatever. Pet Peeve: PLEASE DO NOT GATHER AT THE DOOR!

Can I pick my own seat? Can I pick my groups or work alone when I want to? Do I have homework? Can I eat? Can I go….? Can you write me a pass to…?

 What do I need to do to succeed in this class?  What does Ms. Yeganegi need to do to help me succeed?  What needs to happen in this classroom to make it a positive learning environment?  Why is writing important?  What do I hope to learn in this class?  Any other questions/comments/concerns?

 Finish and turn in your Student Information Handouts.  Get supplies ASAP, by Wednesday if possible!  Summer Reading!!!
