Troop Ransburg Scout Camp 2008 Summer Camp will soon be upon us! –We are attending Sunday, July 6 th thru Saturday, July 12th Final Registration statistics: –44 scouts will attend (26 new scouts!) –12 adult scouters will attend. We need Class I and II Medical Forms for Scouts prior to departure. Class III Medical Forms required for Adults over 40.
Troop Confirmation of Transportation I will contact you by to confirm the following: –Transportation: Driving assignments to and from camp. Vehicle information and # of seats available.
Troop New Scout Plan We have 26 new scouts attending Summer Camp this year! The boys will be supervised by experienced Assistant Scoutmasters to ensure the boys get to, and earn their merit badges.
Troop Scout Equipment List Please see attached equipment list for suggestions on what your son should bring to camp. Cell Phones - please note that they will not be allowed at camp, and will be confiscated and returned at the end of the week. It’s is recommended that the scouts pack their clothes in a Duffle Bag and also bring a Day Pack. BE PREPARED! –Please check to be sure that your scout has all necessary clothing and gear to be safe and have the best time possible. –Rain gear is a must! –A hat for sun protection is a must! –A water bottle is a must!

Troop Departure Day Notes Please arrive before 5:30 am at Mid-America Bank on Sunday, July 6 th. All Scouts and Leaders are to wear Class A Uniforms. Spending Money ($60 recommended) will be collected/deposited in the Troop “Bank” prior to departure. Required Medications will be collected prior to departure. On departure day, it is recommended that scouts wear their swim suits under their uniforms and carry a towel in their day pack. (We will be taking the swim test immediately on arrival at camp).
Troop Medication / Valuables / Phone Calls Medication Policies –All prescription medications must be stored in the Health Lodge in its original container. –Inhalers, EPI pens and heart medications will be kept by the scout at the discretion of the Health Officer. –Over-the-counter medications will not be allowed in camp unless they are prescribed by a physician. –It is a good idea to provide an extra inhaler in case one is lost. Valuables –It is recommended that portable radios, electronic games, and other valuables be left at home. Telephone Calls –Scouts will not be allowed to make or receive calls while at camp. Troop Mailing Address Parents are encouraged to send a letter or package to their son at Ransburg. To insure delivery, items should have the campsite and troop number listed and addressed in the following manner: ( Scout’s name) Beachcomber – Troop 505 Naperville Ransburg Scout Reservation 7599 E. Waldrip Creek Rd. Bloomington, IN Allow at least 3 days for delivery time. Whenever possible, items arriving after scout’s departure will be returned to sender
Troop Swim Test / Swimming MB details for New Scouts Swim Test –100 yards total first 75 yards is any stroke, last 25 yards is resting backstroke Float on back Tread water –Scouts must pass the swim test every year in order to participate in aquatic activities. –Please have your son practice to ensure he can do the 100 yards! Swimming Merit Badge –Must pass swim test to enroll. –Flotation training (long pants and shirt) – don’t forget to pack these! –CPR training – class on Tuesday night at camp.
