Presentation transcript:

Noah and the Ark In Genesis, chapters 6-9, Noah is called upon by God to build a ship large enough to house two of every creature on earth. He was told to take his family and all these creatures into the ship to stay until the flood was over. God told him there would be rain for forty days and forty nights. Noah, because of his great faith in God, obeyed the Lord’s command. God promised Noah that he would not destroy the earth again by flood and that the rainbow would be the sign of this covenant. The whole reason for the destruction of all mankind and of all but two of every species was because of God’s unhappiness with his creation. They were dirty, unfaithful, and did not obey his laws. He chose Noah because of his everlasting faith and because of the goodness of his family. When alluding to Noah and the Ark, one is alluding to a great survival or a man with great faith who obeys the commands of his superior. How else could Noah and the Ark be used in literature?

Aurora (Eos) Aurora, or Eos, was a Roman/ Greek Goddess. She was the Goddess of the dawn and was written about in Latin poetry. She is reborn every morning, when she flies across the sky to announce the arrival of the sun. Her brother is the sun and her sister is the moon. Her sons include the winds. One roman myth states that one of her lovers was the prince of Troy named Tithonus. She wanted him to be immortal like her, and asked Zeus to grant her wish. She forgot to ask for eternal youth, and as a result Tithonus grew old. She is often alluded to when talking about the beauty of the morning sun. The most famous allusion containing Aurora is found in Shakespeare when talking about Romeo, " But all so soon as the all- cheering sun Should in the furthest east begin to draw The shady curtains from Aurora's bed, Away from the light steals home my heavy son... “ In what other ways could Aurora be alluded to in literature?
