Step 1 – Prep/Supplies Metal Files –Available from Home Depot, Lowes, Breed & Co., etc. –Check out files from the office Sand Paper –120 – 2000 grit Breed & Co., Home Depot, Lowes, TBP office, etc. Fine Cloth –i.e. dress sock, gauze, soft cloth

Step 2 – Filing Purpose Remove excess metal Make sharp corners/edges Keep flat surfaces flat, curved surfaced curved Method File in a single direction, until all scratches are in that direction Change direction 90° Continue until all scratches are in new direction

Step 3 – Sand Paper Same method as filing –All one direction, then the other Start at a low grit –Removes scratches from files Increase grit w/ a change in direction –Gradually increase grit (200  400  800  1600) –Only move on after removing all old scratches. Otherwise, you have to start over

Step 4 – Finishing Touches Final Step: Wet fine steel wool with soapy water and polish it Note: You CANNOT, under any circumstance, use any type of mechanical assistance (i.e. grinders, polishers, etc). We can tell!

Tips & Tricks Don’t be afraid to ask for help –We’ve all done it! START EARLY If you think it’s impossible to get any better… –Keep working. You’re not done. If you can’t see yourself in your bent –Keep working. You’re not done. Maintain shape as best you can.
