Research Directorate-GeneralEuropean Commission IMPROVING HUMAN RESEARCH POTENTIAL AND THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC KNOWLEDGE BASE AL- November Examples of Marie Curie Host Fellowships in Relation to Consumer Sciences Contract n° QLK1-CT Core Project Title : Consumer Psychology: Understanding Food Choice & Its Effects on Psychological Well-Being Brief Description : Research on decision making, preference development, implicit learning, social cognition, habit formation, or choice/purchase behavior. The first activity is intended to enhance understanding of the dynamics of liking, and behavioral change, and their effects on consumer preferences and habits. Research Directorate-GeneralEuropean Commission IMPROVING HUMAN RESEARCH POTENTIAL AND THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC KNOWLEDGE BASE AL- November Examples of Marie Curie Host Fellowships in Relation to Food Sciences Contract n° QLK5-CT Core Project Title : Unlocking the Potential of Dietary Phytochemicals: Exploitation, Risks and Benefits Brief Description : Generate information regarding the relative bioavailability of flavonoids from foods, functional foods and supplements is lacking. Obtain information whether increasing flavonoid intakes leads to increased absorption, or whether the absorptive processes are saturated at normal dietary intake levels. Determine the relative bioavailability of quercetin (a flavonol) from a natural food source (onions), from food containing increased levels of quercetin (conventionally-bred high quercetin onions), and from dietary supplements. Investigate whether there is an upper limit for the absorption of quercetin. Perform carefully controlled intervention studies on human volunteers.
