My rubrics will be hand graded and ready in the SEL office after early July.

Exit Ticket for LGBT youth: Cade documentary 1) Compare Cade’s experience to the current experiences of LGBT youth. 2) Write of a practical example or idea in which you, the teacher, can break the school victimization of LGBT youth. Turn this in as your “exit ticket” when we come to debrief at the end of class today.

The following slides are for our practice CSA on Renee Fisher (Chapter 12)

Problems 1. Students who have questions about their gender identity are at risk physically, emotionally, and socially. 2. There is a conflict between some religious/personal beliefs about LGBT individuals and the beliefs that all students should be safe and supported in public schools. 3. There is no systemic policy regarding, or program for, students who are LGBT. 4. There is controversy over how LGBT individuals and their history should be addressed in the school curriculum.

Values/Beliefs Renee Fisher: COMMON THREAD:

Goals 1. Provide safe environment for students who have questions about their gender identity. 2. Resolve conflict between the affected religious/personal beliefs about LGBT individuals and other beliefs that all students should be safe and supported in public schools. 3. Establish systemic policy and/or program for students who are LGBT. 4. Create appropriate ways that allow LGBT individuals and their history included in the school curriculum.

Now it’s your turn to draft an Action Plan... In your group, choose one goal and draft a modified Action Plan The draft Action Plan should have at least 2 strategies, with each strategy including person responsible, evaluation criteria, and timeline (remember you will need 4 strategies for your final CSA Action Plan due next Thursday) Return your group’s poster, and your “exit ticket” by 5:45pm today.
