 Genre: Fiction Setting: Over world & Shadow Land Pages: 333 Jared Brown

 Age: 65  Other Books: Alex Cross Series, the Maximum Ride Series, and the Daniel X Series  Born: March 22, 1947 (Newburgh, NY)  Awards: Edgar Award for Best First Novel by an American Author, Edgar Award for Best First Mystery  Spouse: Susan Patterson  Children: Jack Patterson  Lives: Palm Beach, Florida  Movies: Alex Cross, Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider, Maximum Ride, etc.

 Whitford Allgood: Whit, Male, 19, Blue eyes Blonde hair, Wizard, can Heal, Protagonist  Wisteria Allgood: Wisty, female, Red Curly Hair, Blue eyes, freckles on her nose, Petite figure, 15, Witch, can make Fire, Protagonist  The One Who is The One: Male, 60-63, Red eyes, Bald, Leader of The New Order, Tall, Thin, Intimidating appearance, Controls The Sea, Air, and Ground, Antagonist

 After finding the resistance Wisty and I start to fight the N.O.  Once we got caught but we just barely escaped with our old friend Byron, who came with us to the resistance but betrayed us.  When we got back to the resistance we learned that there was going to be a huge bombing of Freeland, so we had to move quickly.

 We chose to seek help from Mrs. Highsmith, but when we got there The One found us and destroyed the apartment.  We have a big fight and Wisty decides to give The One her Gift, but the One doesn’t want it anymore.  Were then put on a stage with our parents about to get executed

Likes  Some parts are exciting and action packed  I like how he has the view of both Whit and Wisty  It has a great storyline Dislikes  Some parts get very bland and boring  The ending was defiantly not my favorite part  I didn’t like the beginning, its very hard to get into it!

 Exploitation: use or utilization, especially for profit: the exploitation of newly discovered oil fields.  Repatriate: to bring or send back (a person, especially a prisoner of war, a refugee, etc.) to his or her country or land of citizenship: Maya will soon repatriate back to India  Apprised: to give notice to; inform; advise: to be apprised of the death of an old friend.

 A Cappella: without instrumental accompaniment: Jacob sings A Cappella in his spare time.  Impromptu: made or done without previous preparation: David did an impromptu address to the unexpected crowds.  Porcelain: a strong, vitreous, translucent ceramic material, biscuit-fired at a low temperature, the glaze then fired at a very high temperature: Darrel has a porcelain toilet.

 It has a great story line, and is easy to follow  Its thrilling and high paced  It shows different points of view through the book

 A lesson I learned from the book is always believe in yourself.  The theme of the book is the importance of creativity, thought, ideas, music, books and art.

 The book was very good, its filled with fast-paced action and cool magical effects. Its very clever how he made chapters alternate between Whit's eyes and Wistys, and I cant wait for the next book. I would give it 4 stars.

 If I could change the ending I would make so that Whit and Wisty’s Parents don’t die, and that the light that hit them came just a bit faster. I think it would make for a better ending, because all the Allgoods would be back together.

 Thanks for Listening
