MANUFACTURERS OF SINGLE WALLED NANO TUBES SINCE 1998

General Information Conceived in the Advanced Science and Technology Commercialization Center at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Now a self-sufficient, off-campus company providing carbon nanotubes to clients worldwide. Formed on the 1st of June, 1998 in Lexington, KY, motivated by the idea to bring high-quality, single-walled carbon nanotubes to the market at prices suited to realistic research budgets, thereby seeding the growth of related nanotechnology applications.

Executive Management Team Mr. Vineet Nayyar (Chief Executive Officer) Mr. Peter Eklund (PhD,Solid-State Physics) Research Team Mr. Sanjay Kalra (President, Strategic Initiatives) Mr. Rakesh Soni (Chief Operating Officer) Mr. Amitava Dutta (Chief Financial Officer)

Missions and Values Carbolex aims at making high quality single walled carbon nano tubes at the prices suited to realistic research budgets, thereby seeding the growth of related nanotechnology applications

Our Bestselling Product AP-Grade Nanotubes – single walled,closed- ended Sample purity: vol%, as determined by Raman spectroscopy. Impurities include approximately 35w% residual catalyst (NI, Y) which is usually encapsulated in carbon shells. Some amorphous carbon may also be found on the outer surfaces of the ropes. Typical SWNT diameter: ~1.4 nm.

Carbon Nano Tubes Hollow cylindrical structures made up of carbon atoms, high strength, low weight, can be used for manufacturing of satellites and spacecrafts. SWNT - long graphene sheets. MWNT-Collection of concentric SWNTs with different diameters, lengths, and properties.

Carbon NanoTube Synthesis Arc Discharge-vapor is created by an arc discharge between two carbon electrodes. Nano-tubes self-assemble from the resulting carbon vapor. Laser Ablation-pulsed or continuous Nd YAG laser impinges on a graphite target placed in an oven at 1200º C and 500 Torr. Chemical Vapour Deposition(CVD)-Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) results in MWNTs or poor quality SWNTs.

Physical Properties of SWNT Form different types, which can be described by the chiral vector (n, m) The average diameter of a SWNT is 1.2 nm Can vary in size, and they aren't always perfectly cylindrical One hundred times as strong as steel Light, flexible, thermally stabile, and are chemically inert.

A graphene sheet can be rolled more than one way, producing different types of carbon nanotubes. The three main types are armchair, zig-zag, and chiral.
