Class Rules, Expectations and Procedures In order to receive the most from instruction, group and class activities, there are rules and expectations that I require in addition to those listed in the student handbook. Please comply with the following: BE PREPARED WHEN CLASS BEGINS  Wear your student ID above the waist at all times while on campus. This is for safety purposes and so very important. I will check as you enter the classroom each day.  Go to the restroom and take care of personal business before class; passes are used only for emergencies.  Be in the room and seated when the tardy bell rings.  Keep all backpacks, purses or similar items under your desk.  Come to class prepared. This includes as a minimum a pencil or blue/black pen and a notebook to take notes.  Homework due is collected at the beginning of class. You will not use the period to finish uncompleted work. If it is not ready when you enter the room, it will be counted as missing.  DO NOT bring food or drinks in the classroom. Remain in your desk until dismissed by the teacher at the end of class. CLASSROOM EDIQUETTE  Do not interfere with anyone else’s learning in class. While you may understand a concept already, others may not. Disrupting their concentration may cause them to do poorly.  Follow all directions, pay attention and take part in class activities.  Treat each other, the teacher, school and other people’s property with respect. Profanity and derogatory language are unacceptable in the classroom.  DO NOT use IPODS, cell phones, or any electronic devices per district policy. MAKE UP WORK/EXTRA CREDIT You have the opportunity to participate in receiving up to 50 points extra credit per 6 weeks. There are two ways that you can do this. #1. Current Events Select an article from a newspaper, magazine, or internet attach it to a sheet of paper. On a separate sheet of paper, answer the following questions in detail. You may complete two of these at 25 points each. You must be the first person to ask to present. We will do one article per class. This is an oral presentation. However, you will not receive credit if you do not turn in the article AND answer the questions on a separate sheet of paper. #2 People of Impact - Choose a person from history or the present. GRADING POLICY Nine Weeks TESTS-50% QUIZZES-15% DAILY WORK/HOMEWORK-35% FINAL EXAM-20% of final grade Semester Average  80% of the semester grade will come from the average of the 2 nine-week grades.  20% of the semester grade will come from the mid-term/final. Course Grade  Average of the 2 semester averages.
