Using Your Power

Power It may not seem like it sometimes, but you always have power in your life. Sometimes you use your power in the wrong way, so you hurt yourself or someone else.

Personal Power - Assertive This is the perfect kind of power. It makes your life and everyone else’s life better. Honest Responsible Open-minded Choose appropriate decisions Say what you need Doer Flexible Goal Getter Confident Compassionate Positive Risk-Taker

Abusive Power - Aggressive This kind of power hurts other people and makes your life miserable. Abusive power is forcing your will on to another person. Controlling Pushy Rude Violent Bossy Threatening Acting superior Interrupting Cruel Angry Mean teasing Insensitive

Abdicated Power - Passive You hurt yourself when you don’t take personal responsibility. Passive power is giving your power to another person. No eye contact Hide Withdraw Don’t give your opinion Silent Mumble Don’t make a decision Walk with your head down Feel sorry for yourself

Manipulative Power - Deceptive People don’t like to be controlled. This kind of power hurts people and makes them dislike you. Manipulative power is controlling another person. Lying Spreading gossip Taking people’s stuff Sneaky Spreading rumors Making people feel guilty Mean teasing Silent treatment Nothing is ever your fault

Your Challenge Start 3rd quarter by noticing how you use your power and how the people around you use their power. Then try and get more personal power for yourself. This power makes you happier, more respected, and more liked by everyone around you.
