Roe Lee Park School Newsletter July PTO for more info Fantastic Friday – Friday 4 th April 2014 Children who are on packed lunch or home dinners during the week have the option of having a school dinner on a Friday. This is at a cost of £1.90. The menu is: Lamb burger with chips, jacket potato, sweetcorn, and chocolate orange cookie. Week 3 menu will be served next week. Friday 28 st March 2014 Newsletter To be ready for : Friday 4 th April 2014 Please talk to your child about the topic for their class. They will be writing about it on Friday and your discussions will really help. You could talk about the great ideas and words that they could use. Thank you. Reception On Friday you are going to be asked to describe a picture of a bear from a story. Think of some wow words (adjectives) to describe. Year 1 Think carefully about ‘The Five Freedoms’. We are going to be writing an information book-find out as much as you can! Year 2 On Friday you are going to create an information page about our school. What would a visitor need to know? Talk to your grown ups about the information you could include. What sub-headings could you use? What words might need to be explained? Year 3 Next week you will be producing a fact file about your mythical creature. Think carefully about it’s habitat, diet and characteristics. How would you describe the appearance of your creature? Year 4 Next week you will be writing instructions for your own recipe. Talk at home about your favourite meal, how to make it and the things you will need. Year 5 Talk to your adult about what non-fiction sources they read. Discuss layout and structure of the source. Year 6Discuss features at our schools that would go into an information text about our school. What information would they put in? Talk Homework: We feel that this is a really valuable activity and has a very positive impact on the quality of the ‘Friday Write’. There is no need to do any writing or bring in any paperwork. Breakfast Club Children are welcome to attend Breakfast Club from 8:00am every morning. Breakfast club is £1 per child per day and everyone is welcome. Tuesday Treat next week will be ‘Fresh Fruit Salad’. Sacred Heart’s Got Talent Well done to all the children who participated in this years ‘Sacred Heart’s Got Talent’. As always, the judges had a very difficult decision in deciding the key stage 1 and key stage 2 winners. All the performances were amazing. Winners from each key stage will be published in next weeks newsletter. Once again, well done to all of you for taking part. Thank you to all the families who came along to support their child. PE Kits Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit in school. Children must wear a red top, blue shorts or dark jogging bottoms and black pumps or trainers. Please make sure all items are the correct size, especially footwear. Thank you. Reminder School will finish at 1:30pm next Friday for the Easter break. School will re-open on Tuesday 22 nd April. Wishing you all a peaceful and rested break. Bikeablity Some of our Year 5 and Year 6 children are taking part in the Bikeablity Programme on Monday. If your child is taking part, please remind them to bring their bike and safety helmet into school on Monday Unfortunately, due to the lack of interest in the Grandparents Breakfast Club Event, it has been cancelled.
