The National Training and Modern Apprenticeship Awards – Wales Learning Provider of the Year 2006 NVQ Level 2 & 3 for Teaching Assistants

Programme Delivery One work based assessment every unit Training sessions to deliver the underpinning knowledge for every week Placement in a local school for vocational experience Delivery of underpinning knowledge by qualified lecturers Tutorial support Programme Structure Your Level 2 qualification will be delivered in year 12 Your Level 3 qualification will be delivered in year 13 This qualification is pupils in years 12 & 13 in secondary education

National Vocational Qualification NVQ’s are specific to a job role Are a competency based qualification You are assessed on evidence that you provide to meet certain standards

The standards are divided into units - You need to achieve a total of :- 7 units towards Level 2 10 units towards Level 3

The NVQ is divided into units Each unit is made up of elements Each element is broken down into – Performance Criteria Knowledge Base

Observation of performance Product evidence – photos, photocopies of children’s work, instructions/to do lists, work sheets, school policies etc Oral and written questions Witness testimonies Assignment and projects Personal statements

Evidence needs to be Valid Sufficient Consistent Authentic Current Reliable

You will attend placement 4 days each week in a local primary school You will attend weekly training sessions at Ysgol Hen Felin Training Centre You will cover specific training on First Aid, Child Protection, Manual Handling, Health & Safety and Behaviour Management. Your Level 2 qualification will be delivered in year 12 Your Level 3 qualification will be delivered in year 13
