Cabotage general definition: 1. The transportation of passengers and goods within the same country by a company established/coming from another country.. 2. Law or policy protecting transporters of passengers and goods within a country from competition from foreign carriers.
The regulation Article 8 of the Regulation 1072/2009 provides that every haulier is entitled to perform up to 3 cabotage operations within a 7 day period starting the day after the unloading of the international transport.
Cabotage general definition A haulier may decide to carry out 1, 2 or all 3 cabotage operations in different Member States and not necessarily the Member State in which the international transport was delivered. In this case only one cabotage operation is allowed in a given Member State to be carried out within 3 days of entering that Member State without cargo.
