CREATING A CAMPUS CULTURE FOR INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT Shannon M. Sexton, Julia M. Williams, & Timothy Chow Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

Introduction & Workshop Goals RHIT/IRPA - NASPA 2009  Introduction  Goals 1. Discuss the 2 chosen processes of faculty engagement: assessment forum series and assessment in faculty projects. 2. Discuss the 2 highlighted processes of staff engagement: Data Management Committee and staff usage of institutional assessment data (i.e. NSSE, Common Data Set) 3. Brainstorm additional methods of campus engagement 4. Discuss tangible and non-tangible benefits resulting from improved campus climate

Staff Engagement  Data Management Committee (DMC)  Usage of Institutional Data RHIT/IRPA - NASPA 2009

Data Management Committee  Composed of 1 representative from each functional unit (N=7)  Serves as conduit for data 1. Reps bring data from their unit 2. DMC compiles data 3. Compiled data goes back out to each unit & the cabinet  Created to increase communication about variety of data being collected and stored on campus  Data used in dashboards and key indicators for strategic planning RHIT/IRPA - NASPA 2009

Usage of Institutional Data  NSSE  Common Data Set  AQIP  Electronic Portfolio System RHIT/IRPA - NASPA 2009

Benefits 1. Data exists when needed for accreditation 2. Data collaboration by various units 3. Increased interest and understanding across campus 4. Shared workload RHIT/IRPA - NASPA 2009
