Let The Middle School Library Help Your Child Achieve Academic Success!

Welcome My name is Michele Sherman Library Media Specialist I have a master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) from Long Island University.

Did you know that: Students who attend schools with libraries staffed by qualified library media specialists learn more, get better grades and score higher on standardized tests than students who are in a school without a good library. From “School Libraries Work! Updated 2008” Scholastic Library Publishing.

This happens because school libraries and librarians: Collaborate and work with teachers in order to provide lessons that support the NYS curriculum. Provide students with a wide variety of books in order to help and encourage reading.

This happens because school libraries and librarians: Provide students with access to online resources and research databases. Teach important information literacy skills such as how to locate useful resources, how to use these resources and how to evaluate them.

At The Middle School Library, students will learn: Research techniques How to look for information for an assignment What sources are relevant… and much, much more!

Need help with homework? Need a topic for a speech or research paper? Forgot how to solve that geometry problem? Need to look up a word for an English paper?

Let The Middle School Librarian help! I have provided a list of online resources and research databases that can assist a student who is having trouble with an assignment at home.
